./Ultima1: error in loading shared libraries: libartsc.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

What the heck is libartsc and why so I want it?

The binary also wants to dynlink specifically to libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 -- some pretty dodgy lib versioning going on there...

The title says it all. Ultima kicks ass and its cool to see
it in 3D. It plays totally smooth on my comp at 1600x1200
resolution, even in the city. I would love to see Ultima 4/5
done because in my opinion those were the best of them all.

To get the most out of linux games, don't run them under KDE or Gnome! Use the switchdesk command to run them under TWM, the simplest, fastest window manager on most Linux boxes. I run KDE on my RH 7.2 box for most things, such as while I write this. But to get the best game play, I use switchdesk twm , restart X, and I also kill off various daemons like apmd, atd, crond, anacron, sshd, and I even unmount my scsi bus and unload the kernel scsi modules. Of course, to turn things back on, it's simpler to restart than to manual turn everything back on. The gameplay improvement is dramatic! Everyone gaming with Linux should do this!
