Isn't the Nomad engine LGPL'ed or something like that? So what's the big deal of writing another client? :-)
Nah, I know this is stupid, but CDV official opinion and the stuff that Radon is doing might be two different sides of a coin. Maybe we'll get some unsupported Linux client... who knows. Anyone remember xquake? Now that was unofficial...

Wouldn't the fact that the engine is running in linux and that you can download it and compile it yourself mean that you could in essence just buy the game, copy the data files over, and run it on linux anyhow?

I'm sorry you're upset at the facts. The fact is that the major ports are not going to come to linux anytime soon because there is no viable market. The facts are that the major ports that have come out for linux have done poorly. The fact is , that no matter how much you want to ACT like it's different, it's not. So excuse me if I'm telling things the way they are. It's a HUGE uphill battle for us now. Amiga and Mac are different archietectures. Companies port for them because there's no way for someone with PPC arch to run a company's intel software. Linux(i386) is a bit different.
