Per I. Mathisen wrote in to point out that version 1.12.2 (a 1.13.x beta) of the open source Civilization clone Freeciv (screenshots) has been released; changes include:

• can automate workers and specialists in cities
• sound support
• new tileset called “isotrident” has been made the default
• new and improved city dialog in gtk client
• GTK 2.0 version of the client
• intelligent city name suggestions
