I wrote to 7fx also just to give them a small note of gratitude for considering Linux. With this difficult market, I appreciate any company who is at least willing to look into that possibility.

Well, I got a similar response where they gave a strong indication that a Linux port could happen. Of course, the caveat for finances was provided. It's reasonable that if the money's not there, the port can't happen. But I'm excited because the idea is definitely floating around.

Of course, the idea of Linux ports has floated around other companies and never came to fruitation. So, we'll just have to wait and see what really happens. But I've checked out the site and the game looks pretty cool. If it's Windows only, I won't buy it. But if there is a Linux version or a Linux download (for the client), then I will definitely purchase it.

I hope it works out for us.

As in, I can see one of the developers doing it in their spare time without an economic incentive and as an aside or an official project if they can afford it. That's what Id's been doing all along with the Linux support. That's what several other companies have done in the past and are planning on in the future. I just don't believe the "there'll be a port if the Windows version does well..." anymore because Funcom started out saying there'd be a Linux version (even to the point of asking for beta testers...) and then backing down from that position to the current one. Since they're not saying they're doing anything like what's up with TeamFactor, it's not likely that AO will see the light of day on Linux- of course, that might be a good thing considering the Windows version's not doing so well.

I don't know if I'll be buying the Windows version- I don't really use Windows or any MS products myself. I DO know that if it looks like a good game and it runs on Linux I'll be making a purchase.

Hi,

It'd be nice guys if people who would buy a linux port of TF would say so in their "YOUR IDEAS, SUGGESTIONS FOR TEAM FACTOR" section of their forum. It'd be nice to keep that topic on the page for a while by posting there.
