The screenshot kinda reminds me of the old Epic game Castle of the Winds, but sadly not as cool.

I’ve never heard of “Castle of the Winds” – I modeled it on the classic Ultima games.
Now, the Hades adventure isn’t that impressive – it’s a cheesy adaptation of Rogue with graphics. But the point isn’t the pre-supplied adventures (though I am working on better ones), it’s the scripting language.
It’s easy to make more adventures for it – take a look at the “Designing Adventures” pages. You can even use your own graphics and sounds instead of the standard library if you don’t like ‘em.

I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time: something that will allow the creation of single-player CRPG games, and runs on Linux.
I’d of course perfer something that was native code instead of Java, and free software instead of shareware. I don’t suppose anyone knows of such a project? Something like RPG Maker 2000, but has a Linux port.

P.S. No offense meant to the author of this game, it’s just not what I’m looking for.

Is it just me, or is just about no-one apart from other
java developers really interested in java games?
I’ll never knock the effort of anyone who’d go to the
trouble of making a game/engine for any environment or
platform, but… eh.
