Great to see these people working to improve Linux graphics, but the last thing we need is another TG abbreviation. I propose the following re-abbreviations:

Tux Games -> TXG
Transgaming -> TRG
Tungsten Graphics -> TNG

All in favor, please express your approval by not responding to this post.

Err... isn't that what Precision Insight was, until VA swallowed them up?

DRI still needs work. I'm glad someone is still going to be working on it. Maybe Radeon 7500/8500 support will be forthcoming? Or T&L for the original Radeon for that matter.

Seriously.

I'm actually a hard core NVidia user because I find that frankly their drivers work great. We've discussed this ATI vs NVidia (open source/closed source) issue at great length on the Loki newsgroup, and while I'm still a fervent supporter of NVidia, I am honestly happy to see, that the DRI group is picking up steam again.
Does anyone know if ATI is actually sponsoring/paying for/helping to develop the Radeon drivers, or are they just releasing specs and letting someone else do the work? This is one thing that irks me about ATI and this whole open source vs closed source argument. To me ATI is not actively supporting the open source movement unless they're actually developing the drivers or helping out the developers. Didn't ATI have some sort of contract with the old PI a couple years back? Do they have a contract now with this new company?

Does anyone have any clue as to whether the 4.2.0 release of XFree will fix any of the annoyances with the Radeon driver? I would like to run in 32 bit mode and have some of the texture problems fixed (getting T&L support is probably too much to ask at this point).
