zinx wrote in with news of q2hack 0.0.5-rc3, which provides for superior Quake 2 Linux support on the closed source id Software product. This version brings the major change of mousewheel support, and zinx explains how to enable this:

… you need to change Q2HACK_WHEEL=0 to Q2HACK_WHEEL=1 in the script …

Kewl, I got wheel… Fullscreen-DGA and.. GL going… all I need now is for m_filter to work correctly.. Sigh, AQ2 sniping is not the same without it.

I can’t see any surfaces that are supposed to move; they’re all black.
Doors, buttons, lifts, and friends; they’re all pitch black.

But other than that, it _does_ go at over 200FPS. Which is very nearly of practical value (=

Now the only thing we need is a full halflife port :)

I couldn’t play quake 2 without it. Keep up the good work!

    Hi,

    This isn’t q2hack specific, but i added
“xset r off” at the beginning of th q2 script and
“xset r on” at its end, disabling keyboard “autofire”. This helps a lot when using the offhand grapple, who is avaiable in lfire CTF, which doesn’t work without this option. You’ll have to bind some key with -hook to use it on supported CTF’s (like lfire CTF).

Now CTF really rocks, thanks to the q2hack. Thanks to zinx!

    bye
