Mystro from Linux Tribes got word from Sam Lantinga (head developer of the Tribes 2 project for Linux)that VOiP, thespeech communication option previously listed as the only feature not going to be included in the Linux version ofTribes 2 will now be added in an upcoming patch.There goes your last excuse not to buy the Linux version of Tribes 2.

Just so I don’t get shot here, VOiP will be included in ONE of the very first patches, however it will be included.

I was really torn between wanting to support the Linux version and the good guys at Loki, and having to buy the Windows version for VOIP.
This is very good news indeed. Loki is to be commended for working this out.
BTW, does anyone know why VOIP was a problem in the first place. I know they could not use the codec involved. But no one explained why.
