XFree86 DGA Update in CVS
September 23rd, 2000 by CrusaderTim Angus let us know that Keith Packard made an update to the XFree86 4.0.x CVS tree (xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/common/ specifically) which fixes DGA 1.0 mouse input. The patch will improve mouse handling for titles such as Q3A under the 4.0 series; the changes will be includedwith version 4.0.2′s release if you don’t feel inclinedto compile XFree86 from the current CVS source.

I could never figure out how to get DGA mouse input working, or query if it was working at all. It’s one of the main reasons I gave up playing games in LINUX.
In a related note, anyone know how to get a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical (4 buttons + wheel) or a Dexxa Optical mouse (Same configuration and protocol) to work under linux?

I want to install the CVS version of XFree86, but I sure could use a step-by-step install-guide. Isn’t there such a guide?
