September 19th, 2000 by CrusaderAnand Shimpi’s venerable hardware site Anandtech hasposted a review by Jeff Brubakerwhich pits the Matrox Millennium G450 againstthe NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX in Linux. Jeff gives somebackground on the XFree86 4.0.x architecture, provides2D and 3D benchmarks, and concludes that the GeForce 2 MX is the clear winner unless yourequire the G450′s DualHead features.

I don’t want to get left stranded.[br][br]
I’ve a friend that bought the TNT2 because it was “the thing”- fastest, etc. Now, he’s saying that it was a poor choice. Not because of the GeForce. Because Diamond’s pretty much shriveled up and blown away. No support and it wasn’t as good as the G400 (Yes, it was faster than the G400, but now he realizes speed’s not everything in a game.)[br][br]
I don’t want anything to do with it because I’ll be beholden to NVidia for my display support (if I want 3D, that is.) since they’ve seen fit to NOT open their sources for that.
