Bungie and Linux
June 19th, 2000 by CrusaderWell… the big news of the day (and possibly the week), is that Bungie Software was acquired by none other than Microsoft, who will be forging Bungie’s sci-fi action game Halo into a title for their upcoming console system, Xbox. Bungie, long considered one of the last bastions of MacOS advocacy in the gaming market, developed Myth 2: Soulblighter, which was ported to Linux by Loki.Fortunately (despite how bleak things appear), Bungie has added a FAQ with regards tothe acquisition which includes a nod to possible future Linux ports:
What about Linux? If we do a Linux version, we would probably contract someone outside the company to port and distribute the game, much as we did with Myth II.

I’m sure i’m not the only one who doesn’t believe this for a minute. Of course they are not going to say “Nah, Linux sux, X-Box and Microsoft are the only way to go!”. I predict we won’t see another linux game from them ever. I hope i’m wrong, the Myth series was excellent.

they’re now an M$ company, but they’re “not ruling out” the possibility of a Linux port?
if you believe that, I have a bridge that we should talk about.
