NVIDIA Items
April 28th, 2000 by Crusader- Primer has created a Nvidia XFree 4.0 Drivers for Linux FAQ that can be updated with user-submissions.
- NVIDIA’s Nick Triantos sent in his XF86Config for those having difficulty configuring XFree86 4.0 with the NVIDIA drivers (note: you’ll have to modify the settings in this config for your system, such as monitor timings). Nick also noted that the current drivers already support the GeForce 2 GTS, which is nearing release.
- Will Weisser has written a shell script that determines if your system’s driver installation is correct.

Just wanted to make a comment on the Nvidia
drivers. Although the wait has been some time,
the performance from the drivers are up to par.
Thanks for getting the drivers/support out to
the linux community in a somewhat timely
fashion.

Hmmm, its nice to see the community attempting to fix the problems and buglets in nvidias drivers. It would be so much easier if they were open source.
Sort it out Nvidia.
I’ve hear lots of stories about how it is agreements with other companies which stop them opening the source. Originally I assumed it was SGI, but they’ve opened the OpenGL SI. I don’t think it is likely to be VA Linux systems, so what agreements are stopping them?
BTW, these drivers lock my console solid on a TNT1 on an FX mobo, with the 0kb video ram thing. I’ve got all the devices set up and everything. Anyway, I gave up and a Matrox g400 is in the post to me right now…. should tide me over till Radeon256 or G800 with nice XF4.0 drivers is out…

Anyone had any luck getting the new drivers working with UnrealTournament. I’ve pretty much removed all of the hair from my head. I have added the latest UT patch … when I run the game, I get the nice splash screen and then it exits with a “Signal: SIGIOT [iot trap]” PLEASE HELP!
thanks,
