The story on that has never come out mostly because Gordon refuses to discuss it which makes me tend to believe that it was something that he did or didn’t do.

Who cares if they are only interested in profit? They are a business and businesses need to make money to continue to exist.

For those that are worried about Steam and DRM, most of the non-Valve games will be available outside of Steam. So if you would rather buy games off the company’s website, or from other sources (e.g. Desura), in most cases you should be able to.
