Heroes of the Community!
January 3rd, 2012 by CrusaderQuick note that PC Gamer has named the team behind the Humble Indie Bundle (who include but are not limited to the developers of Wolfire Games!) as their community heroes of the year:
But one of the main reasons these guys are our community heroes this year is what they’ve done with that success: they’ve used it as a platform to launch (or relaunch) a range of great indie games that deserve a broader audience. Four times this year, they’ve released new bundles that showcase a particular game or developer: Trine, Frozen Synapse, Voxatron, and most recently Introversion’s whole catalogue. Each one has taken more than $700,000, a vast success for games that genuinely deserve it.

That’s great, I think they deserve the recognition. They could have easily done what they did and ignore the Linux community like many of the indie bundle clones that have sprung up since.
I think the higher average donations from Linux users showed other developers that there are many Linux users who are willing to pay good money for quality games. Now we have the Desura Linux client and hopefully Linux gamers will see some great new games this coming year!

no kidding.. If any project deserves cloning so much it becomes it’s own genre, it’s the humble bundle project. I thoroughly enjoy how the linux gaming community looks as much like a viable market as the Macintosh OSX market. That seem’s like a great indicator to me, and clearly to at least a few talented development houses out there, too.
I particularly like the site those guys came up with detailing the actual stats from all the humble indie bundle sales..
