Notch and the crew at Mojang released version 1.4 of Minecraft Beta this week. Ch-ch-changes:

• Added tameable wolves
• Added cookies
• Sleeping in a bed now resets your spawn position
• New Minecraft logo
• Holding shift while climbing will hang on to the ladder
• Spiders will no longer trample crops
• Lots and lots of infrastructure for Statistics lists and Achievements

It’s also noted that statistics and achievements support will be in the next update.

Additionally, a repository for interesting world seeds has been created: The Minecraft Seed Repo. I might check it out next time I die (I’ve been playing iron man-style, deleting my world and starting over after the first character death).
