Guys! Gals! Goys!

ID Software never actually "supported" Linux other than for "shits and grins" that began with David "Zoid" Kirsch. Don't you all remember LinuxQuake.Com? I use to be on there, helping people with their Quake 2 configuration and whatnot. ID Software only had a Linux release because a couple cavalier independent affiliates like Zoid and *ahhem* were willing to put up some closed binaries --sometimes anonymously from yours truly.

The Johns could care less, but they were whorshiped daily and when they got the "Donald Knuth" treatment from their minority of intelligent fans then they assented to the Linux binaries being circulated.

Now is a world of software aggravated by Intellectual Property laws that obfuscate Code from it's Assembly. You will never see any breakthrough in Linux again, because it's all going encrypted from now on, and corporations (read: unintelligible investors) want a return on their SECURELY MANAGED investment in such a way that aquires further safety precautions on it's distribution.

I don't believe id software has ever officially supported a Linux port but we've still been getting them for all their games. Although it might not be until some time after release depending on how busy TTimo is :)
