@jebblue: Minecraft is not a multipleyer game editor which is what I understand Cube Engine to be. If Cube Engine allows for mining, gathering resources, making items, inventory, ability to equip armor/weapoins and exploring randomly generated world then a lot has changes since i played with it 3 years ago. Comparing Minecraft to Cube is like predicting the future RPG Rage game interest based on the FPS Quake Live usage.
I found the videos "X098 - X's Adventures in Minecraft" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bh4EexJO4I to be very interesting. I watched around 20 of those before I bought Minecraft.
As for the look, IMO it looks better than most games, except for some SNES games. I do hope he applies dynamic shadows and such at some point but I am happy with what it has now.

The graphics in the video look very dated, like 1990s. I think the Cube 2 or even 1 engines are far superior
and on servers that allow it, just hit e while in a map and you can start editing cooperatively.

I finally got around to trying this again and it's sooo much better than the early versions. The only disappointing part is that multiplayer still has a lot of bugs (no damage, no minecarts, no tnt) and it looks like Notch's focus is still just on single player for the next update.
