July 12th, 2010 by CrusaderEngadget mentioned today that Gamepark Holdings is on the verge of releasing another new Linux-based handheld game console in their GP2X line, the Caanoo.
The Caanoo will have double the memory and a GPU over its predecessor, the Wiz. Engadget states that it should begin shipping on August 15 to online retailers such as Play-Asia.

Yeah bit late now. I have a gp2x and dont use it now due to horrible joystick and battery drain. Android devices are on the rise with all sorts of interesting devices not just limited to handsets. So this is a thumbs down from me.
I don’t think it’s so much these companies are Linux friendly, it’s just the cost of distributing it, ie nothing.
Also gph support is close to useless. Once they push a product out it’s forgotten. Once bitten twice shy and all that!

Wife still plays the GP2X F200 almost daily and if it ever dies this looks really good. The Wiz has a 3d GPU already (OGL-ES), so I think this just double the ram to 128mb. With 128mb ram why can’t you just put Android on it?
Well back to waiting on my Pandora preorder…
