Did I miss the ATi 10.4 release that added support for XOrg 7.5 and therefore Ubuntu 10.04 here?
I went to ATi because of the releasing of spec docs, better open source driver support (not anymore it seems), and the poor 2d performance of my GF5900 that I could do little about, so bad that Sacred got about 10fps. I got the feeling NVIDIA just decided it was too old of a card and didn't bother worrying about it, or was about to put it in the legacy driver.
Still, if all you care about is the binary driver then NVIDIA is the best way to go IMO.
