Frictional Sale Successful
July 20th, 2009 by CrusaderFrictional Games posted an updated about their recent Penumbra Collection sale:
We had planned for a re-release of the Mac & Linux versions of Penumbra as a Collection. We sent out a PR and made some noise during the week to make sure it was known the Collection would sell for USD 5 during the weekend. We also came in contact with Helios – the Linux blogger with a big heart for many things. He wanted to do a write-up on the Linux version and got all excited about making it fit with the weekend deal and, oh my, did he make it fit!
Due to the blog, the Slashdot article about the blog, Linux and Mac sites posting of the PR we ended up with an excellent weekend of chaos. Because of this we are now as good as set to focus completely on making the next game, which is great compared to spending most of the day working on survival solutions.
In short, a tremendous Thank You! To everyone for this weeks coverage and to all users that gave us their support by purchasing the game during the weekend deals on Steam and the past few days. It has really turned things around for us.

Weekend Deals really work.
I didn’t bought it previously for 20USD, but bought 4 copies at 5USD for me and all my friends with a love for horror games.
I did this also because I feel that small developers caring to go cross platform deserve support, and I’m really glad to hear this was a success weekend for you, indeed :)
And by the way, the games are great ;)

I wonder what the Windows/Mac/Linux sales ratio was, hopefully Linux got 5%+ …
This game scares me to much, but the wife thought for $5 she would give it a shot, and for a native Linux game I was more than happy to pay $5. I will give it a try again, the demo a couple years ago freaked me out, but I may have changed…

Just got my copy. Hope I will find time to play them.
Also I hope that more and more companies will do things like that.

actually I missed the discount window and purchased it today, even still after firing up the game(s) and playing for just a few levels it’s obviously a fantastic game at a great price.

I didn’t buy the games yet because they are too scary. I know, but they scare me.
