Is it just me, or is this game WAY too difficult? There are
tons of enemies and things that can kill you in one hit. The
seeking red balls, the bill-gates things shooting at you, the
crazed penguins coming after you, the mines you cannot destroy. And even when you destroy something, they explode in a hail of shrapnel that kills you. Not to mention the game runs too fast, or is it just my dual celery?

Yes, it is difficult. Right now, there’s no level progression. I just start the game with a TON of enemies on screen. In reality, level one will be just a few landers. Level two will add some bombers and a swarmer… and so on. Just like the original.

Also, to correct your misconceptions: The penguins don’t come after you. They’re good guys. The “shrapnel” explosions do nothing to you. And as for the game speed, I’m trying to match as close as possible to the original Defender. Hint: there is a “SLOWDOWN” that you can change in the source, but it’s for debugging, you cheater, you! :)

    Enjoy!
