Yes Mac are also 'stuck' on 2.5. Also a significant number of players use windows, they stay on this version so they can play their buddies who use Mac and Linux.

Yes you can run your own server.... See http://manual.americasarmy.com/index.php/Linux_Server
You do not have to download and install the server, You will find it in ~/.25deploy/armyops/System ./server-bin
on some linux distros you need to use this command first: export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.10

Perhaps i should clarify that, I don't mean there are 5250 players all online at once, But 5250 different people have been tracked in the last month... http://www.draat.net/stats

AA 2.5 is the latest client for Linux, It has been around for a while but I had been hearing a lot of people have been having trouble installing the game and having problems with sound and mouse etc. So I decided to make 2.5 deploy so it would be much easier for people to get up and running with this game. There are currently 5250 Active users playing AA2.5 on the Mac and Linux platforms, I'm hoping this tool will help to increase that number.

Yeah I'm kind of confused with this one. I stopped playing AA after 2.5 due it it not being ported. There's still a lot going for 2.5 ajd I guess there's still a lot of people still playing. Maybe I'll check it out again :-)

Is 2.5 the latest version of the game? or the latest one for Linux? Or is this some kind of Wine masquerade? I thought they discontinued the Linux client of the game.
