Pandora Pre-Orders
Engadget is reporting that you can now pre-order (US | World) the Pandora open-source handheld game console for $329.99 US. Developed through internet forum discussion, the hardware specs are:
- ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux
- 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core
- PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D hardware
- 800×480 4.3″ 16.7 million colours touchscreen LCD
- Wifi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth & High Speed USB 2.0 Host
- Dual SDHC card slots & SVideo TV output
- Dual Analogue and Digital gaming controls
- 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad
- Around 10+ Hours battery life
The first batch of Pandora systems, limited to 3000 orders, will start shipping at the end of November.

The first batch was 3000 and they sold 2000 in the first 6 hours!!!

Sold out. The initial run was expanded to handle the additional number of requests past 3000 to Sunday of last week. They came in just shy of 4000. If there’s no serious production issues that mar the rollout, there will be more of them to come.
I don’t envision that they’re going away any time soon. :-D
