I started using linux, when XWindows had to be downloaded, the source code, the driver had to be configured and compiled, and then XWindows had to be configured by hand.

My first, and so far last card was ATI. I have since been an NVIDIA fan, with a few Matrox cards during the years. Oh, and there was one Trident, remember those.

ATI has been promising support for years.

Excuse my being a little sceptical, but I am more hopeful now that AMD has bought ATI. But I will believe it when I see it. And then my only reason for a switch would be if the ATI and AMD combo really started kicking butt.

Unfortunately it will most likely took another year or so till there opensource drivers get those features and 3D performance we gamers simply need.

Oh, i will change my nvidia cards to ati when this come true ;)
I hope that call of duty 4 performance with linux/wine will go better after this.
