Savage 2 for Linux Released
Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, the mixed-genre (FPS/RTS) sequel to Savage: The Battle for Newerth, has been released for Linux by S2 Games. The client is free to download and new players can sign up for a demo account with 5 hours of online play. The free client also has access to an offline single player tutorial, unlimited LAN play, and a replay database. Players can then upgrade through the game client or from the official website for $29.99 US.
“Linux gamers are a whole different crop of players,” said Marc DeForest, co-founder and lead designer of S2 Games. “They are tech savvy, out of the box thinkers who relish creativity and originality. That is one reason why the first Savage was such a hit with them. We couldn’t be more excited to invite them back to Newerth for some savage good times.”
Thanks to ThOR27 for the heads up!

The first Savage was a great game for linux. I am downloading the demo now, but I am pretty sure I will buy it… Really seems like a great deal for just under 30 bucks.

Where can I find the hardware spec?
March 26th, 2008 at 4:17 am
Found some here: http://savage2.s2games.com/specs_pop.html
The relevant parts:
Minimum:
Processor - 2.2Ghz P4 or faster
AMD 2000+ or faster
RAM - 1 Gb of ram
Video Card - 128Mb Geforce or Radeon
Network Connection Required
We strongly advise players to use components closer to the recommended system requirements. While the game will function with these minimum requirements it will have significantly poorer performance than the recommended requirements.
Recommended:
Processor - 2.0ghz Core 2 duo / AMD 3500+ or faster
RAM - 1.5 Gb or higher
Video Card - 256Mb Geforce 7800+ or Radeon x1900+
Network Connection Required (Broadband)

It would appear that I need to order more memory… discovered that 512 MB is not a smart thing to do for this game. Ok, so I didn’t check out the system specs until after it had issues with the memory. ;-)

I also ordered more memory. I have been funning at 512MB for too long. :)

Content aside, nice to have an other closed source game with an x86-64 version, the third so far!

Well I needed the memory anyway, but this game requires greater then a Geforce 4!!!
