Version 3.1.1 of Glest, an award-winning open-source 3D RTS project, has been released. Changes:

• Improved shadows: They are more detailed, darker, and they use the alpha in the trees.
  

  

• Command line interface: You can launch Glest from the command line as a server or client.

Linux users need to download the game data; you can then download the source code or use the official binaries, but the developers warn self-compiled executables have had a tendency to lose network synchronization in multiplayer.
